The Company
Wine as a project
Our winery was born in Barolo from the pioneering ideas of Sylla Dogliani, Mauro's mother and grandmother of Sylla and Angelica, known as "La Dama di Langa." After Sylla's untimely death, following complex vicissitudes, Mauro left the family business in 1991 and driven solely by his passion for the wine business, he created Mauro Sebaste in Alba with a single goal: to produce high quality wines.
He is joined in this venture by his wife Maria Teresa and a passionate team, joined in 2018 by daughters Sylla and Angelica. While the very latest generation, consisting of Sylla's daughters Costanza, Celeste and Camilla, is already ready to pick up the baton. We currently take care of 30 hectares of vineyards located in more than 10 different communes, between Langhe, Roero and Monferrato Astigiano, to be real interpreters of the native varieties of our territory and to satisfy Mauro's passion for the art of winemaking.
We produce an average of 150,000 bottles a year, divided into different labels and types to which we add a range of grappas made from our pomace.
Our tradition, our family
The Territories
Where our wine is born
Barolo
Barolo is the place where our roots lie, and the wine that bears its name is the thread that runs through our family’s history. Here, Sylla, Mauro’s mother, an authentic forerunner of what would soon become this prestigious area, founded her first winery, planting a most precious seed, later picked up with great enthusiasm first by her son and now by her granddaughters.
Today our Barolo comes mainly from Serralunga d’Alba, one of the main communes in the DOCG area, where Nebbiolo grapes reach qualitative heights of absolute excellence, capable of giving wines of rare strength, elegance and complexity. Other estate vineyards of Nebbiolo da Barolo grapes are located in the territory of equally prestigious municipalities such as La Morra, Verduno and Monforte d’Alba.
Alba
Our winery is in Alba municipality, as is the core of our vineyards. Our Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba and Nebbiolo d’Alba vineyards are located in the area of Santa Rosalia, on the ridge of the hill that lies between Diano d’Alba and Grinzane Cavour. This is a highly vocated area that enjoys splendid exposure to the sun.
Nizza
With the 2014 vintage, DOCG Nizza was established, with the intention of officially certifying the sub-area of greatest vocation for the Barbera grape variety within the larger DOCG Barbera d’Asti area. In this area, comprising 18 municipalities adjacent to the one that gives its name to the wine, that is Nizza Monferrato, the Barbera variety in fact expresses the maximum of its qualitative potential.
In the same year of the establishment of the Nizza DOCG, the winery decided to acquire two beautiful vineyards in the area of the municipality of Vinchio to which two more have recently been added, this time located precisely in the territory of the municipality that gives its name to the appellation, Nizza Monferrato.
So it was not tradition that brought us here, rather the heart, as we literally fell in love with this territory and decided to tie our name and our history to it.
Alta Langa
Alta Langa is our latest bet, it is the first sparkling wine produced by our family, arrived after years of study and research.
The production area includes the hilly strip of the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo, located to the right of the Tanaro River, must be exclusively hilly land, with a minimum height of 250 meters above sea level. Our vineyards are located in Mango, Montelupo and Diano d’Alba, with exposures above 500 meters above sea level.
